Frequently Asked Questions
Can the APEX 10K run grid and generator at the same time?
No. On the APEX 10K, the single AC input supports either grid or generator, not both simultaneously. If you need both connected at once, the APEX 6.5K handles that, since it has a separate CT input the 10K does not include.
Is 10kW enough for a whole house off-grid?
For most homes, yes. 10kW of split-phase 120/240V output with an 80A pass-through covers a well pump, air conditioning and general household circuits. All-electric homes with electric heat and an electric range may need a larger inverter or two units in parallel.
APEX 10K or EG4 12000XP: which is better?
The APEX 10K gives 10kW output with an 80A pass-through and a straightforward off-grid design. The 12000XP gives 12kW output and up to 24,000W PV input with dual MPPTs. Choose the 12000XP for large solar arrays; choose the APEX for a simpler, lower-cost off-grid build.
What size battery bank do I need for an APEX 10K?
Size the bank to your daily consumption rather than to the inverter. A home using 20kWh a day wants 40kWh or more for two days of autonomy. The APEX works with all BigBattery and EG4 48V batteries, so NEXUS at 16kWh per unit is a common pairing.
