Frequently Asked Questions

Will this charger work with my Husky 2?

No. This charger (PWS015) is built for the 12V RAZORBACK, 12V OWL, 12V OWL MAX 2 and 12V SEAL. The Husky 2 needs a different BigBattery charger. Pairing a charger to the wrong battery risks incorrect charge voltage, so always match the charger to your specific model.

Can I charge a LiFePO4 battery with a normal charger?

Not reliably. Lead-acid and AGM chargers use absorption and float voltages designed for a different chemistry, which typically leaves a lithium battery undercharged and can confuse the BMS. A LiFePO4 charger delivers the right profile, in this case up to 14.6V DC, which is what a 12V lithium pack actually needs.

What voltage should a 12V LiFePO4 charger be?

A 12V LiFePO4 pack is nominally 12.8V and needs a charger that tops out around 14.4V to 14.6V. This unit delivers a maximum 14.6V DC at up to 60A. Anything materially higher risks the BMS cutting out; anything lower leaves capacity on the table.

How long does it take to charge at 60 amps?

Roughly speaking, divide the battery's amp hours by the charge current. A 200Ah pack from empty takes a little over three hours at 60A, allowing for the taper near full. Charge time scales with capacity, so a larger bank on the same charger takes proportionally longer.

How does this charger connect to the battery?

It uses a 175A Anderson-style connector on the DC side and a standard 110V AC cable on the input, so it plugs straight into any wall outlet. At 3.4 lbs with 22-inch DC and 23-inch AC cables, it is compact enough to carry between vehicles or store in a cabinet.
